Testers Needed

I have chosen my testers for this pattern.  Thanks for all who offered.  Check here to see if you where one of the lucky ones chosen.

I am in need of a couple of testers for one of my patterns.   When I made this for my son I used a very thick/heavy yarn.  I would like to sell the pattern and need some pictures of  the finished product done in regular worsted weight yarn and a different color.  Preferably for baby.  If you are interested in testing this pattern for me please post a comment below letting me know why you want to test it and who you would give the finished product to.  You also need to become a follower of my blog if you are not already one.  Make sure you add your email address so that I have a way to contact you and send you the pattern.  I will leave this open for a couple of weeks, so please post a comment on or before January 10, 2012.  Winners will be selected at random.  Thanks and I can't wait to read all of your comments.
As you can see he is big. His head is the same size as my 6 year old's.
You can now buy my patterns here on my blog, on Ravelry or in my Etsy shop.

#5 Mini K.I.S.S Reindeer Pattern.  She had a name her new angel giveaway and these were given out as prizes to those who entered.  I just love her patterns.  They are all toooooo cute!!

CROCHET PATTERN - Mini KISS Series - Reindeer

The cute owl that I won was going to be a gift for one of my daughter's friends.  It did not make it through the mail in time so when it got here we opened the box and the little guy found a new friend fast.  My son loved him.  My daughter cabbaged onto the dahlia flower.  Here are a few pics of where Mr. WHOOO, as he was so lovingly named by my Mr.BOO, has roosted at night since he came to live with us.

At first he was roosting in a bird house planter on my living room wall.

And now Santa Whoooo is living in the Christmas Tree.

I am taking a small break from crochet for a few days.  With the cold I have had the acrylic yarn is playing havoc on my nose.  It's bad enough with out a cold sometimes.  But is that going to stop me from using it?  I THINK NOT!! I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and that the New Year brings enough blessings to over flow all your cups and the saucers under them.

A Brand New Day

It's Christmas eve everyone!!  For some of you it is already Christmas day.  Either way Merry Christmas.
I have looked at Mr. Penguin a few more times and he looks a little better to me today.  Thanks everyone for your great comments.  I feel better about him now.  I did start something else last night and finished it today.  It too is a penguin but it is a Nintendo DS Holder.  I had to share him.  Then off to bake cookies and make eggs for tomorrows dinner.  Have a Merry Christmas all.
He is silly but cute.
He even had pockets on back to hold games.

EDIT: This litte guy is now available for sale in my Etsy shop, here on my blog, or at Ravelry.  I am in the process of getting some more of my patterns written up.  So keep checking to see what is new.

Wow To Me.

Is it just me or has this been a long week.  Last week everyone but me had the stomach bug now this week everyone but my daughter has a head cold.  On top of that I have my second cold sore in a week.  Just got the last one healed and woke up yesterday morning with a mountain on my lip where the other one had just left.  Hubby says it is stress.  I am blaming my latest mess on the fact that I have had very little rest full sleep in about two weeks.  I have been working none stop to get all of my goodies done.  I have been spending the last two days trying to finish up my penguin project.  I have to say he is the ugliest thing I have ever made.  First we went and spent the afternoon at Chuck E. Cheese.  Mr. Boo's best friend/"girlfriend" is in for Christmas.  They were in kindergarten together here in Arkansas last year and after school was out her family relocated to Nebraska.  They have kept in touch by phone and email but were excited to see each other today.  Then we can home and I locked myself in my bedroom to finish Mr. Penguin.  This is what he , Private from the penguins of madigascar, should look like.

I know he is cute isn't he.  Well take a look at mine.  Sorry it is a pic from my cell phone, not the best pic I could have taken.

The pattern worked up great.  All of the individual pieces look so cute but when I put them together. AHHHHHH.  My hubby had a really good giggle out of it and said "you are the one who made it." I wanted to poke him in the snozoly.  OK now that you have had a good giggle and you know you did, leave me a comment and tell me what the ugliest thing is that you have ever made. I so need some moral support from all of you right now. I am off to find a new something, who know what, to make her to make up for the above monstrosity.  Have a Merry Christmas and a Crafty New Year.

The Adventures Of Mr. Piggy

I have someone I would like you to meet.  He is a new favorite around here.  I made him up last minute today for Mr. Boo's teacher. She is a BIG Arkansas Razorback fan.  Not sure what to call him yet, but here he is.

Oops he went all to pieces due to nerves about meeting everyone.

Now that's better.

Here he is visiting the flowers in Miss Hope's room due to the fact that it is too cold to go outside. He is sitting on a granny dishcloth that she made for her teacher.  She has a 3 piece set.  This is her first time to start one all by herself from a pattern with out mom's help. :)

Now he is visiting a bench just his size.

Mr. Piggy can you turn to the side and show us you CUTE little tail? And yes it does go springy springy.

Hop on Mr.Piggy and I will take you for a ride.

Whatcha doin in the plant (a thank you from all the 1st grade teachers at Mr.Boo's school) Mr.Piggy.  Hey what's that smell?

Mr. Piggy was found hiding in the tree.  He was a little worried about leaving the children.  They love him so much and gave him lots of snuggles.  After being assured his new home would be filled with children he was OK to go.  With a few more snuggles and goodbye kisses he has been packed away and put in the car (so he doesn't hide somewhere in the house and we can't find him come morning.)  I have to admit I am sad to see him go as well.  I have a feeling there will be at least 2 more of him made and running around soon.  I am going to try and get a pattern written up for him to put in my store.  He is just too cute and I had to share him.  Have a great night all.

TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me.  What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?

Well, I found out.
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly.  Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics.  It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church.  Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.
The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus Christ.
Two turtle doves are the Old and New Testaments.
Three French hens stand for Faith, Hope and Love.
The four calling birds are the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
The five golden rings recall the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
The six geese a-laying stand for the Six days of Creation.
Seven swans a-swimming represent the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit: Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
The eight maids a-milking are the eight Beatitudes.
Nine ladies dancing are the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.
The ten lords a-leaping are the Ten Commandments.
The eleven pipers piping stand for the eleven faithful disciples.
The twelve drummers drumming symbolize the twelve points of belief in The Apostles' Creed.

Had to share this with all of you.

Please say a prayer

My hubby came in last night and informed me that I needed to get the house spotless over the next week.  He informed me that someone was coming to look at our house who was considering buying it.  His mom and dad are considering sell their house and the people who are interested have decided they need two instead of one.  Of course our house sits in the middle of a field on their (mom and dad) land.
We do have the option to not sell and stay where we are and who knows if they even want our sweet little house.  Please just say a prayer that the Lord will guide us, that we will seek his will in this and do what he would have us to do.  Our daughter (12) made herself physically ill last night fretting over the whole idea of having to move and not live next to Grammy and Papa.  Our son (6) was of course very excited at the idea of getting a new house.  He decided it should be 5 stories high and have a huge bathroom on the top floor.  He is so funny.  I have to admit I was a little bothered last night.  We have lived in this house for about 15 years of the almost 18 that we have been married.   I moved a lot as a child and this is the longest I have been planted in one place.  My roots are pretty deep and I'm a little worried about what might happen when or if I try to break them loose.  But if the Lord says it is time to move on then it is time to move on.  Please pray that if we do have to get a new house that we won't have to go into debt to do so.  We own our house free and clear right now.  We never had a loan on it.  We built this little fellow with our own hands with help from good friends and family.  I feel like I am rambling but I needed to get this off of my chest.  Now, where do I hide all of my yarn and craft supplies? GIGGLE GIGGLE.  Oh and Lord if you see fit please bless me with a craft room if there is to be a new house :).
I did get to check some things off of my list yesterday.  Puppy scarf is finished and so is the snuggle puppy.  Still working on that little black and white fellow, although he is coming along nicely.  Of course Miss Hope is home sick with the belly heaves today.  Not as bad as little brother praise the Lord.  She just got sick one time last night.  If she stays in bed all day I may be able to sneak around and get some more done on it.  Right now I am just going to sit here and see what is going on in all of your lives.  Hope you are all getting done what you need to to finish you goodies.  We are going to make teacher gifts tomorrow.
We plan on making these cute little candy sleighs that I found at Ellyn's Place.  I ran and got all of the stuff to make them today while mom kept Miss Hope.  I had to go pick up my substitute teacher check.  While taking it to the bank I found out I had just missed a police stand off across the street from the bank.  I guess the arrested 3-4 men and there were guns waving and a little of action going on.  I can't say I was sorry to miss that.  I just realized that I got the wrong size bows.  The ones in the picture are mini and I got regular size.  Oops.  Oh well I'm sure they will be cute with big bows.  Can't wait to get started on them.
Have a happy and blessed day all!

Jumping Up and Down

Look what I just found.

© Valerie Lawson

Do these look familiar to all of you?  They are a crochet version of the well known knit Hexi-puff.  I found a link to the pattern here.  The pattern is on Ravelry if you would like it.  PATTERN.  A wonderful woman named Valerie Lawson posted her pattern on Ravelry.  I can not wait to get started on some of these cute little Hexis.  I am not very good at knitting yet and was sad that I could not make one of The Beekeeper's Quilts by Tiny Owls Knits.  Now I can yeah!!  Ok enough of that I must get back to work. Have a great day.

It's Tuesday Again Already?

Edit:  You must see this post. I can NOT believe it is Tuesday again already. Go check out all of the Tuesday Tallies on Gigerbread Girls Blog. I am posing this on the fly.  My little man is home again today so I have to sneak pictures of his stuff on here without him see.  I had planned on finishing up his stuff today, I volunteer at his school on Monday's, but with him home that won't happen.  He started feeling bad Saturday with a cold.  Then Sunday night around 7:00 he started complaining of tummy pain.  Around 9:00 he was heaving up his toes, and that continued all night.  Yesterday he lay on the couch or in a chair most of the day. We almost had to take him to E.R. for dehydration issues(one tinkle all day) but when I said something about going he decided he could go. And go he did 4 more times. But he is doing 100 percent better today.  Pancakes for breakfast and gatoraid to drink. YUM I know thanks for sharing right.  Enough of that.   I am way behind on my one a day project for mom (in law).  I planned on crocheting a pot holder or dishcloth a day up until Christmas so I would have a wonderful surprise for her.  But as you can see I only had two new ones to add to last weeks stack.

And as you can see(frown :( ) I have not finished the pretty yellow and blue one. I found the pattern here.  She has a lot more beautiful square and other patterns on her site that I plan to use to finish up my mom gift with.  I would like to use her Falling Star Square, Blooming Lace, and Blooming Granny pattern.   So this means I must get with it today and tomorrow and get caught back up. I have a total of seven so I need to do at least two a day from now till then. Ahhh

As you can see I finished the Puppy scarf.  I need to press it and sew on the eyes.  I laid some on it so you could see how cute their little faces are.  His ears and nose are blue, it's hard to tell in the pictures.  I am thinking about stitching Mr.Boo's name on the bones.

I finished the blanket for the snuggle puppy.  I was sitting in my bedroom floor last night with just the bathroom light on trying to hide and finish it up. Of course my sweet daughter found me and then it was "Mom it's dark in here how can you see here let me turn on the light.  Can you see better now."  And the whole time I was saying SHHHHHHH!!!  Now all I have to do is make a collar and attach his head to the blanket.  I was too tired last night to be creative enough to make one up. He wanted a blanket with the head in the middle. He said it would be like Lovely Carrot(duck blanket) on the cute show Chloe's Closet.  If anyone is interested I may write up the pattern for the snuggle puppy and put it in my Etsy store.  If I do I will need some testers though to make sure it works up OK with regular worsted weight yarn.  The yarn I used is Lion Brand Hometown USA.  It is a VERY bulky heavy weight yarn.  It is very soft and has a sheen to it.  I think it might be a little too heavy if it was made for a baby.

At least I can still work on sister's stuff with him home.  I started her penguin yesterday.  She wanted Private from The Penguins of Madagascar.  I found the patterns here. There are patterns for all four of them.  Of course she wants me to make all four but said she would settle for Private for now because he is her favorite.  I hope I can finish by Christmas.  I don't think it should be a problem as long as no one else comes down with toe heaving syndrome around here.  Well, I am off to put clothes in the dryer.  I will leave you with a video of Chloe's closet I found on YouTube.  If you have kids go get them and have them watch it they will love it.  I even like to sit and watch.  There are a lot more on there if you want to watch more. The link above will take you to the PBS Kids website to find games and videos. Enjoy and have a great day.
