Here Comes Isaac!!

As you know a lot of us here in the states have not had much rain this year.  Well some of us will soon be or are now getting lots of rain.

When tropical storm Isaac first got going they were predicting that it would not hit Louisiana but go more towards Florida and up the East side of the US.  I told my family that since this storm was named after my son, his middle name is Isaac, that we would be blessed with some of the rain from it.  Well guess what, even though it was the least likely modeled path, here comes Isaac.
See the latest updates on Isaac
Of course Mr. Boo is excited that the rain is coming since the storm is named after him.  We have also been praying for the people in New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana.  Hopefully most of them were smart enough to get out this time.  I mean Katrina hit 7 years ago to the day that Isaac hit.  Hello!! At our house we never sing rain rain go away.  We sing "Rain Rain Come This Way, Please Stay and Rain All Day!" So in honor of the rain here are some poems and images I found. Enjoy.

Monday Funday

Hello everyone!!  Hope you all had a great weekend and are getting off to a great start this week.  I have been surfing around the net this morning and found a few tutorials to share with you.

This first one is a great way to recycle packages in your house. It comes from Inittoknitit.

These are coaster that have been made from chip packs, etc.  Then she crocheted around them. This would be cute for the kids juice pouches too.

This next one is for all of you quilters out there.  It is a snowman mug rug from Not-So-Plain-Jane.

These would make cute pot holders as well.

And for all of you who have been wanting to make a bunting but keep putting it off this one is for you.  It is from a lovely blog called Pink Milk.

This next one is also a recycle project.  It's labeled "How To Crochet With Pop-Tops and is from

She makes all kinds of things with these.  Have a look at her website to see more ideas.

And last but not least, something I've been wanting to make myself, a rag rug. This one is from Blog A La Cart.

I hope you have enjoyed all of these and maybe found some great new blogs and websites to follow as well. Have a great week all.
If you would like to link up something fun from your website please do so below.

A VERY Quiet Monday!! And Free Pattern Links

Shhh!!  Listen...Do you hear that?  It is the sound of a VERY quiet house.  My kiddos went back to school this morning.  I am one lonely momma.  Mr. Boo is off to second grade and Miss Hopey is off the Jr. High.  Is it normal to still cry when they have been in school that long?  This was a hard morning for me and them. (Keep reading there are pattern links at the end.)

Boo decided, just as he was putting his back pack on, that he had changed his mind and really didn't want to go back to school today after all.  He was very excited until the last minute.  I walked him in and made sure he knew where his new class was.  The minute he walked into his class and saw his teacher he was a totally different child.  We have been blessed so far with awesome teachers for both kids, but this year he was extra blessed.  His teacher from kindergarten moved up to second grade to be the team leader.  Of course she made sure he was in her class again.  We had asked her to be his Kinder teacher because Sis had been in girl scouts with her twin girls and we knew she would be great for Boo.  He walked in, put his backpack in his cubby, gave his teacher her little gift he had made her, and found his seat.  Being the loving child that he is, he not only got his chair, he put chairs at all the other desks in his group.  He was good to go so I slobbered on him a little and ran.

Then there was the matter of Miss Hopeynope.  She loved her penguin nails.  I did her toes too.  The big toes were penguins and the rest were just colored to match the colors on her nails.  Plus I spent almost 30 minutes this morning straightening her hair. She declared that last night and this morning she had giant caterpillars in her tummy.  Then I "made her" eat breakfast and they ate all of that and turned into giant butterflies.  We got boo dropped off then we had almost an hour to kill before she had to be at school so we went and washed to car. She kept informing me she was scared and that she felt like she might throw up.  By the time we made it to her school she said her butterflies had taken a nap and she was not going to "throw up " after all. Her school was a mad house.  There were kids that had not registered yet and the office was jam packed this morning.  I had to walk her in because I had to drop off her meds for her peanut allergy.  She just gave me a kiss and off she went like a big girl to the cafeteria. We spent an hour at her school last week walking around and finding all of her classes so she would know where they were this morning and wouldn't get lost.  She felt pretty secure that she would not have much trouble.  The one class I dread of hers is the advanced algebra 2.  She took algebra 1 last year and passed it with flying colors so they put her in the advanced class this year.  It has been 19 years since I took algebra 2.  I took it as a senior and here she is taking it in the 8th grade.

Well I have waffled enough and my internet is having fits so I am off to figure out what the problem with it is and get some cleaning done before I have to go back after the kiddos.  I hope all of you that had kids go back today had a calm morning!!  Have a great first week back!!

Hello Again!! I've Missed All Of You!!

Hello everyone!!  I hope you have been having a wonderful summer.  It has been so hot and dry here but we have finally been getting some rain about once a week over the past three weeks.  The last post showed lots of rain coming down but the sad part was we got very little of that at our house.  All of that was in town.  I have been spending most of my time with the kids before they have to go back to school.  We have made a few short trips here and there.  We went to War Eagle Caverns and The Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks.  And of course we have made many many trips to the library.

I have been working on a few things crochet wise.  I can't show you some of them because they are for my swap sister in the Santa Sack Swap but I promise to share them after they are received.  I can share my latest finished item with you though.  I have a sweet lady contact me and ask if I could help her with a towel hanger that would look like a Razorback but not have a huge head.  This is what I came up with.  Mine is just a regular pig for pattern sale purposes though.

I thought he was cute.  I had fun designing him.  Of course he is now hanging in Mr. Boo's room.  His bed is a captains bed with drawers under the trundle so it sits up high.  He still has a rail on to keep him from falling out because he is a bit of a wild sleeper.  He has it hanging on the rail.  I have to admit it is pretty cute hanging there.  I let Linda test the patter for me since it was her idea and it will be up for sale soon.

I hope to have more posts up soon also.  I will try to share some of our pictures from the Aquarium and the Carvern with you.  I have a busy week this week and then next Monday (8/20/2012) the kids are back at school.  With Miss Hope going to Jr. High this year it will put us getting home at almost 5:00 in the afternoon.  I am not looking forward to that.  But that all part of them starting later.  She will start at 9:00 and get out at 4:00.  Our school district has so many schools that they had to stagger the start times for bus route purposes.  There are now 17 Elementary Schools, 4 Middle Schools, 3 Jr. Highs (plus one in the works will make 4 next year) and 2 High Schools(with possible plans for a third).  All in one city.  It amazes me that there are that many kids in that one city.  When I was in school we hand an Elementary, Middle, and High School.  They I moved to a larger city for 2 years and went to a Jr. High.  Then we moved back to our hometown and I got to graduate with the kids I went to Kindergarten with.  There were 30 kids in my senior class and not all of us graduated.  My husband went to school in the same city as our kids and he had 600 kids in his graduating class.

Well I guess I am off to work on some more crochet goodies for now.  I hope to talk to all of you again soon.  Have a restful Sunday!!  We are supposed to get some more rain tonight and into tomorrow.  Can't wait to have a lazy rainy day tomorrow.  We have only had one of those this summer.
